Catch up!

It has been a busy few weeks! Everyone around blogland picks a word for the year. I have never done that before this year. This year I picked a word and it is "FINISH". And boy oh boy I have been finishing lots of stuff that has been hanging around for a while. First up was this idea that I got from Pinterest for Princess Belle's room. I think it sat unfinished for about 2-3 months!

I received this awesome wreath as a Christmas gift from October Moon but this left a dilemma where do I put it!  I realized that it matched my upstairs bathroom just perfectly but I didn't want it up there where I couldn't see it.  So I {with lots of help from Rhino} broke out the paint and re-painted our den.  It looks so great now. See another project finished!

This is just randomly in here - we all got new tablets for Christmas and we needed a case.  We ordered cases from eBay and it was a bit scary but when they came them made me do the happy dance!  They are so pretty.

This past weekend we went to the World Cup Speed Skating.  It is pretty neat to watch.

And I actually sewed last week.  I made these pillow covers plus some other ones.  I am really happy with how they turned out.  Another project finished!

And here is one more project to get finished!  Maybe this weekend?!

Until next time stay warm and keep busy!

Happy New Year!  Wow 2013 that sure seems "weird" to write that one out.  Do you have your resolutions all set for the New Year?! Or have you already broken them?

Did you have a great New Years Eve?  We stayed home and enjoyed a nice dinner and a chocolate fondue.  Today I have a few things I want to do like take down the last of the Christmas decorations and later we will head out to the movies. Enjoy your day!

Christmas Wreath

For as long as I can remember we have always received a beautiful wreath from Nova Scotia.  I've written about the tradition before.  Well I was a bit sad to get this note in the mail but I totally understood it!  She sent us so many wreaths it is unbelievable. I was surprised that she did it for as long as she did.  We wish you the best in your job at the hospital Auntie K!

So this year instead this is what is on my front door. Years ago we received this from a dear neighbour and I do love it!

Maybe just maybe I will order a wreath next year from Nova Scotia on my own!

Book Page Wreath

I love Pinterest and ALL of my Christmas craft ideas came from there this year!  I made the book wreath and I love the way it turned out.  I wasn't expecting it to take as long as it did to make though!  The prepping of the pages and the rolling took a while but after that it was smooth sailing.  Here is an almost finished one {I still need to find a spot to hang mine}.

Now I only have to figure out how to get this one to Red Deer without damaging the pages!

While looking at the all time ultimate time waster AKA pinterest I saw these and they made me laugh. I know the bottom one isn't very funny but....

Viva Las Vegas

We just got back from sunny and warm Las Vegas.  We had 5 nights there and we crammed in everything we could possibly do in that time!  Our main reason for going was a dance workshop.  Princess Belle attended Camp Pulse a 2 day dance workshop.

Dancing at the competition was Asia.  She is the youngest competitor on Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition.  Princess Belle was pretty excited about that!

We also did a lot of sightseeing and a huge amount of walking! First off was this display of winter which we thought was pretty funny.

Don't I wish our snow was just bubbles!  It was fun and we giggled over this.

We went and saw Criss Angel and all I can say is that it was a huge disappointment and I would never recommend it to anyone {not even a huge fan}!

This was the only picture to remember this waste of time.  We decided to pass on the $80 pictures they were selling in the lobby. It seemed like no one was buying them!

We went to the strip a few times and stopped in at the coke store to experience coke products from around the world.  I am glad we live in North America as some of these flavors were absolutely the most disgusting thing you have ever tasted.  One was named the Beverly and it was the most bitter taste I thought we might toss our cookies!

While strolling around we saw this guy and he was a spot on impression.  He made me laugh!

We had a brief stop on a NYC step.

One night we ventured over to the Eiffel Tower and the views were amazing.  Princess Belle saw a proposal and was pretty thrilled about that.  The lady was so excited and was shaking and she dropped the ring!  Yikes we all heard it ping when it hit the ground I was scared it was going to drop but it didn't.

We took in a much better show called Vegas! the show.  It was a great night and we enjoyed it.

We also went to Madame Tussuad's wax museum and that was a lot of fun.  I was surprised at how real the eyes looked.  Hopefully, here is the closest that one of my daughters will get to this character.

One day we also hit Freemont Street in the day and took in the sights.

From the summer

All made out of jelly beans! I loved it!

Just had to go in

Is this not the most pretty light?  I was very surprised where this was located.  Can you guess?  One hint  there was also fresh flowers on every table.

That was Vegas and by the time we got home we were all exhausted!

Halloween

For some reason Halloween seemed different this year.  It might have had something to do with the {artic} temperature and the snow.  We didn't even carve pumpkins this year.  But I have been trying to be a good patient and am making a good recovery and I knew lifting pumpkins would not be a good thing.  Nevertheless, the girls had an awesome time trick or treating. And they got more than their share of candy!
