Our day!

BOTH the Princesses passed swimming lessons!  They were both so happy and so was I.  Princess Belle is taking more swim lessons next week - which she isn't happy about as the lessons are for 90 minutes.  I think know she is a bit worried. I would be too as I couldn't do all the requirements but I know she can!  Miss Cinderella starts a day camp on Monday and is excited about that as she may see some friends from last years camp.

We went to my Heritage Park today but to my horror my annual pass had expired and when I looked at the calendar there won't be much opportunity to use it so I didn't renew it. My Mom had the girls pictures taken....
What fun!
Oh and for those Royal fans Rhino saw the motorcade roll on by his work!

Our Canada Day

We have never taken the girls to a parade - I know I am the worst mother ever, right?!  A friend of us told us about this awesome parade that they go to every year in a small town.  They even throw candy at the kids!  Bonus!  I loved every minute of this parade!

Main Street - waiting for the parade to start

Checking out all the action

Pretty funny!

Wonder how his haircut turned out?

We had lots of fun and the kids loved catching the candy and just waiting and watching to see what will come next!  I think this will be a new annual tradition to go to this parade.

One last shot...

Miss Cinderella made my heart so proud during the parade without prompting or encouragement she would go and get the boy beside me candy.  As the parade floats and attractions would go by they would throw the candy at the kids but these two boys didn't stand a chance in getting the candy as the young kids would run up and take it but Miss C noticed that and went and gave it to them.  She knew without even asking or questioning that they could use a little bit of kindness.  We were so proud of her!

After we left the parade we happen to come across these - it seemed like Area 51...what do you think?

Pretty cool but we thought it was best to be a leaving!

Signs of Summer

For the last few nights this has been cruisin the 'hood...

Sorry for the blur but it was heading on out.....to go make a sale because he didn't get any on our street.  It may have something to do with his timing.  This was at 9:00 PM- seriously dude your target market is in bed!  Just saying so you know for next time.

At the end of our street I saw a guy run out of his house yelling for him to stop.  I thought for sure he had a sale.  Nope instead he got an earful about the time and also a huge complaint about his music selection.  Get this one the ice cream truck plays CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!! The dude was saying that it was just sick that he did that and why did it have to be at 9:00 PM.

The ice cream truck drove off and strangely enough he didn't make his rounds on my street tonight!

Last day of school

At times especially during the winter school seems to drag on forever!  And then after spring break it seems to go at warp speed.  I just can't believe it is over.  The girls had such great teachers this year and a really nice group of kids so it was a bittersweet end.

Yesterday was Sports Day (they only do it in the morning so it should be called Sports Morning!) at school.  Both Rhino and I volunteered.  It was a great morning and no rain in sight.

This is the card that I made for the girls teachers - it was quick and easy!  I had forgotten how easy it is to make cards.  Even though they were so simple it was a big hit.

We have some gardening still to do and some little projects to wrap up before our camping season hits us.  We got the trailer out from storage on Sunday and I was pleasantly amazed at how little dust etc there was in it. Just a few more things to do and it will be ready to roll.

Goodbye....

Princess Belle has worn glasses for about 3 years now. She just got a new pair of really nice glasses before school started in September but she was complaining of two things. The first being the "I don't want to wear my glasses anymore" and then the second being "I can't see far with my glasses anymore".  Mmmm, this made me think is it a vanity issue or an actual sight issue?!  So off we went to the eye doctor and lo and behold she only needs to wear her glasses for reading!  Every time I look at her I am thinking something is missing and catch myself from saying "where are your glasses?". So goodbye glasses for now!

The second thing that we have said goodbye to is the TMP bar!  We were so surprised we were told that it would stay on for the whole ortho treatment plan (about 14 months). This was such a good surprise!

Now here we are just a few short months later and look at the difference!

Fire Safety

I will make the solemn promise to never get distracted by blogging/cleaning/bathroom breaks while cooking EVER again!  And I know I'm not the only one who has gotten distracted.

I still can't believe I did this one.  I was going to make chicken noodle soup from the package for the Princesses lunch what I didn't plan on was starting it on fire!  I accidentally turned the wrong burner on and left the package on the burner that I turned on.

When I realized that something didn't smell so nice I discovered the foil package smoking/smoldering on the burner.  Oh oops - well really you know I didn't say that. I said something that is R rated.  But you get the idea.

Thank goodness for the foil type packaging it comes in otherwise I think it would have been worse. I took the package off the stove and ran it under water and then I noticed that everything seemed very smoky. The
smell is just gross.  I have left all the windows and doors open trying to air the house out and have a couple fans on to circulate the air too.  I think it is helping.

Guess what we didn't have soup for lunch today...even though it looks like a few noodles were spared.

I am so embarrassed one of Princess Belle's friends told her she smelt funny this afternoon.  And another classmate asked if someones parents smoked because there was an odd odor in the air.  Nope that's just my Mom cooking lunch for us! Wanna join us for lunch?!

It's been a while!

Wow!  Where has the time gone?  Well I'll tell you school opera, dance competitions and just living life!  My Nana used to always say "just busy doing nothing!"  So true.  But it has been a super busy few weeks.  Both girls participated in the school opera which was great but of course they were in 2 separate casts so we had the pleasure of watching it twice!

Then Princess Belle had 2 dance competitions to attend.  And of course I have no pictures of that to share.  Did you know if you take pictures inside the theatre you can risk having your whole studio disqualified from the event?  They do sell pictures but at $25 for one 8X10 we decided to pass! One of the competitions was in Banff and it was so nice to have a little getaway in the mountains.

Right after we came back Princess Belle also had another exciting event to look forward to a Medieval Feast.  Her grade has been working so hard and learning all about medieval times so it was so nice for them to look forward to the feast. Everything looked amazing and it was so nice to see all the kids enjoy themselves.

The Great Hall

Also, in between all of this going on we had Mother's Day.  I was very surprised and happy to find this waiting for me on the table!

I love it and have to admit I've been reading way more than I did before.  I love how light it is!

Last we met our friends (Hello Red Deer) and had an awesome night at Jubilations Dinner Theatre.  It was so much fun.  All the girls got picked to play a small part in the production - they got to be Hobos and danced around the burning barrel drinking from a paper bag it was too funny!  They also got to go on stage and dance with the characters at the end.  It was so much fun for them!
