She is growing up and look at how tall she is.  She is up to my chin! Oh my between this and the orientation for junior high it makes me feel old!

California Dreaming

Last week Rhino was in sunny southern California.  Life is rough isn't it!  He was taking a course for work.  As an added "bonus" he got an education about life in SoCal.  He know knows that at Ocean Boulveard you do not turn right on a red light.  Luckily he didn't get a ticket! 

While he was there there this happened "an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot his co-worker in an office dispute before being shot and killed by another colleague Thursday afternoon at the Glenn M. Anderson Federal Building."  It was scray stuff according to the news report over 100 FBI agents and police were on site. It made it next to impossible for Rhino to get back into his hotel.

 

At his hotel they were shooting an episode of Criminal Minds.  We love that show and will have to be on the look out for this episode.  This was one of the props.

After his course and exam were done he had some free time. He squeezed in a trip to The Grove to go to American Girl. Two girls I know made out pretty good from this stop!

He went on a TMZ tour.  He said it was fun and now we know what TMZ stands for!  Do you know what it stands for?

His tour guide who sometimes appears on the show.  Personally, I have only ever watched TMZ for about 2 minutes total.  But now I will have to watch to see if I see her.

 He went to a hockey game on Saturday night and meet Charlie Simmer.

 He also met Brett Wilson.

But all good things come to an end and he had to come back.  We went to the airport to get him and while waiting for him to clear customs we saw him on this screen first.  So we called him and told him to stand there so we could get a picture!

It's been a while

It's been a while since I've been on here.  So what's up?! Mom got moved in and for some reason I found it very funny that the moving truck needed a pull behind trailer.

Miss Cinderella has been learning about moon phases and had to do a moon observation.  This was her project to represent the moon phase that she saw.

 While Miss Cinderella was a way at Pajama Camp..this Princess had a serious cuddle session with Belle (the cat).

 I have also been working on my scrapbooking again. I finally just finished our trip to Mexico from last year. Such good memories.

The girls have 5 days off school starting today.  I hope that we can all sleep in and enjoy it! Rhino is in Long Beach this week and at his hotel they are shooting an episode of Criminal Minds.  That is one of our favorite shows so that is pretty neat.

We are just a little speck

Tonight we got to go to an observatory as Miss Cinderella has been studying the moon in school.  This place has one of the largest telescopes in Canada.  This was our second trip and each time I have loved it.  When the telescope moves it makes you feel like you are in a movie or on a set.  It is that cool.  The best part it is only about 20 minutes away.  Definitely going back another time. 

Hole in the wall

We are almost done!  And really I feel like I could crawl in this little hole and just hibernate for a bit!

Yesterday was the carpet installation and the carpet is so nice!  This place is really starting to feel like a home!  One of the hitches though is this little hole.  I hate drywall repairs.

The day of possession Mr. October Moon came and helped remove all 803 pounds of carpet and underlay.  Thank you again for your help!

Brand new carpet so fresh (and clean!)

Last weekend we did Allure Flooring in the laundry room and bathroom.  It is a great product to use when you don't want to pull up the old lino.  The laundry room is a bit unusual in this house as it has a wheelchair ramp that drops 9 1/2" to the door.  Not fun to deal with.  It looks so much better and I am very happy with it. It is a big improvement.

Poor Rhino cut himself twice and of course we didn't have a first aid kit.  I only had one small band aid how typical!  I sent a text to my mom and asked if she had a first aid kit her response was "no I don't have any such thong".  I think she meant to say thing!  I laughed and it proves humor is a great healer.  So we improvised as the clock was ticking down and the work must continue on.

We worked until about 12:30 on Saturday night and we were both so exhausted we couldn't even think straight.  Off to bed and then it started again!

The weather has been so cold and no one wants to go outside.

October Moon has been a great help in this process.  We cleaned and were SO grossed out by how dirty everything was.  Just a little PSA if you smoke STOP right now it is so disgusting and it coats everything with a yellow film.  Yesterday while the carpet was being installed (and holes being made) we organized the fabric department we went from this..

To this...

The biggest transformation will be in the kitchen area.  It is definitely a work in progress.  Here we are in the before stages.  The cupboards, floor and back splash have to be gone.

We started by removing the cupboards and now the cupboard to the left of Princess Belle is gone.  We removed some of the back splash but it was a hard job to do at night as we didn't want to make too much noise and annoy the next door neighbour.  We had two fabulously hard working Elder Missionaries that stepped in to help.  We were so grateful for this as they removed all the back splash and they even removed the flooring!  The floor was laminate over lino.  It was such a help and kept us on our schedule.  So again thank you Elders!  This took them 3 hours it would have probably taken us 30 hours.



Did I mention that most of the lights have also been changed?! This was one of the most scariest ones as the ceiling is high.

Also here is my little rant about kijiji we advertised the ceiling fan and also another one for free.  Of course I had people coming out of the woodwork and arrangements were made with multiple people for the free items and of course no one showed to pick it up!  I also hate when people want lots of information for a free item i.e., what year was it made, do you have the receipt, how often was it used.  I could go on and on but really the point is it is free - take it or leave it!!

What's on the plate for this weekend skating and horseback riding lessons.  And at the villa doors and knobs that need to be changed...and the list goes on. Need to add the drywall repair to the list too. Meanwhile I will just dream of crawling into a little hole somewhere!

I spy with my little eye...

This moving stuff is still hard and lots of work still needs to get done. We have 2 deadlines coming up that we are working towards - the carpet install and the actual move date. Today is flooring and probably more cupboard removal.   But moving right along!

A while ago we were at HomeSense looking for some things and this made me laugh A LOT!!

The Princesses thought we should buy it but I was a bit reluctant at a price tag of $49.95.  Still it was fun for those few minutes.

Moving is Hard!

This moving stuff is hard and it's not even my move! My Mom is moving into a place 2 minutes away from me.  It is going to be so nice but until then it is work, work, work.  She has had the place for 1 week and so far we have ripped all the carpets out (803 pounds worth!), done lights in the basement and the painter is painting.  Tonight Rhino is doing some lights and tomorrow the kitchen cupboards come out.

Did I mention these stairs yet?!  It was so hard to remove the carpet and staples from them.  Thanks to Rhino and Mr. October Moon it was done.  We have been moving stuff (mainly fabric and quilting supplies) into the basement.  I can't even begin to think how many times I have done these stairs.  All I know is there has to be an end in sight, right?!
